2023 Honoree

Frank Gimbel

Franklyn Gimbel founded Gimbel, Reilly, Guerin & Brown, LLP, (GRGB) in 1968 after serving as an Assistant United States Attorney. Besides maintaining a successful and busy law practice, under Frank's guidance, the Wisconsin District completed the construction, renovation and financing of the buildings which form the core of Milwaukee's convention business, the Wisconsin Center, the U.W. Milwaukee Panther Arena, and the Miller High Life Theatre. Frank has been bestowed a Lifetime Achievement Award from Marquette University, the Milwaukee Bar Association and the Milwaukee Historical Society. Frank has also served as President of the Milwaukee Bar Association and State Bar of Wisconsin; among many other appointments, awards and Board positions.

In 2000, Frank was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin Lymphoma and underwent chemo therapy, radiation and had his spleen removed. Five years later, Frank was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer and underwent 45 radiation treatments.  Frank is not the only GRGB family member to be affected by cancer. In 2022, Partner Pat Knight's wife and close friend of GRGB lost her life to it after a quick diagnoses and noble 3-month fight. That same year, longtime named Partner and Community Hero, D. Michael Guerin, also lost a long term battle with Cancer. This year, Patrick Knight was diagnosed himself as well. So many of the GRGB team members have been affected by the disease either directly or through loved-ones. GRGB is doing all that they can to contribute to the fight.
